JuJitsu & MMA
About JuJitsu & MMA:
The JuJitsu & MMA system we teach is based on traditional Japanese styles of Martial
Arts that the historically famous Samurai Warriors used (using YoShin Ryu
JuJitsu, "Willow Spirit Style JuJitsu", as the main foundation for what we
teach), as well as including a
wide range of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) techniques in the curriculum and training.
With a large
variety of techniques such as Punching, Kicking, Knee and Elbow techniques
(similar to what would be found in Karate), Joint-Locking, Pressure-Points,
Circular-Redirection and Balance-Control Techniques (similar to what would be
found in Aikido), Break-falling, Rolling, Throwing and Grappling /
Ground-Fighting techniques (similar to what would be found in Judo), Weapons and
Weapons-Defence (Kobudo), this system of JuJitsu is a well-rounded, powerful and
effective form of Self-Defence.
What to wear:
For the new
student, comfortable loose-fitting clothing is fine, such as shorts or
sweatpants and T-shirt. The training clothes should be without zippers or
buttons. Once the student decides they would like to continue with regular
ongoing long-term training, then a white-colored "Judo Gi" (Judo Uniform) is
recommended. A standard white-colored Judo Gi can be easily purchased at
many sports-stores, or stores that sells Martial-Arts equipment and supplies.
For footwear, generally in the studio class, we will train bare-foot. Mats are
set in place for the training.
